So I thought I would introduce one of my current projects which is a small set of miniatures called the Ice Drakes Space Marines. Their paint scheme came from an inspiration to make a nice looking army for a snowy setting. As a result I picked up some teal green and coppery gold colours and got to work eventually painting the motley crew in the picture. Due to the nature of their colour scheme they have taken a very long time to paint. Not to mention that they are amongst the highest quality paints that I have personally ever achieved. The first miniature was painted over a year ago and the last one completed in November 2021. Now I have been painting other stuff in between painting these guys, I'm not that slow! But it has been a great journey so far with these guys; from the first experimental paints to finishing of the final layers I have been able to watch my painting skills grow and knowledge as a painter as well.
If people would like to know what colours I used in their creation then I will make a separate post with a more detailed breakdown of what goes into painting an Ice Drake.
The miniatures themselves are from the Indomitus Crusade boxset created by Games Workshop and I intend to add more miniatures to the collection very soon as I really enjoyed painting these guys when I initially thought I would not. Painting can be a journey in more than just simply skillset.
